Kiwi Group Holdings Limited has sold its life insurance business Kiwi Insurance Limited to nib nz holdings limited. The sale was completed on 29 April 2022.

If you have a policy with Kiwi Insurance, there's nothing you need to do as a result of the sale. Your policy benefits haven't changed and most of your policy terms and conditions remain the same - you'll continue to get all the same great benefits you've been receiving.

What changes have been confirmed about Kiwi Insurance?

Kiwi Group Holdings Limited has sold its life insurance business, Kiwi Insurance Limited, to nib nz holdings limited. The sale was completed on 29 April 2022, following regulatory approvals.

Under the sale arrangements, nib nz holdings limited acquired 100% of the shares of Kiwi Insurance Limited and Kiwi Insurance Limited will no longer be owned by Kiwi Group Holdings. The new legal name for Kiwi Insurance Limited is nib nz insurance limited.

Kiwibank has an arrangement with nib to refer its retail customers to nib nz insurance limited for their life and living insurance needs and in return, nib pays fees to Kiwibank.

What do these changes mean for me now?

There's nothing you need to do as a result of the sale. Your policy benefits haven't changed and most of your policy terms and conditions remain the same - you'll continue to get all the same great benefits you get now.

However, there are some changes you should know about. Your personal information is currently managed under the Kiwibank Privacy Policy. As a result of the sale of Kiwi Insurance Limited, your personal information will also be transferred to nib and managed under the nib privacy policy, which you can read at nib.co.nz.

The complaints process has also been updated. You'll find information about how nib manages complaints at nib.co.nz/complaints. Any complaint escalations will go to the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme, rather than the Banking Ombudsman's scheme previously used by Kiwi Insurance Limited. Am I still covered?

Yes. Your policy continues under the existing terms and conditions.

Do I need to reapply for cover?

No. Your cover will continue unchanged.

Do I need to do anything because of the sale?

No. Your cover will continue unchanged.

I am currently making a claim, what will happen now?

Your claim will continue to be managed in the same way, and in accordance with the terms and conditions of your policy. You can call 0800 555 642 if you'd like to speak with the claims team at nib about your claim.

How do I make a new claim?

You should call the nib team on 0800 555 642 and they'll help you through the claims process.

How do I check my cover or make changes to my cover?

You can check your cover on the Kiwibank mobile app. Otherwise, call the team at nib on 0800 555 642 if you have any queries or to make changes to your policy.

I have a house and contents or car or boat insurance policy that I bought through Kiwibank – is this affected by the sale?

No. These policies continue and any queries on these policies can be made by calling 0800 222 491, option 1 and then option 2 for Tower Insurance or option 4 for insurance arranged by Kiwibank, administered by Ando Insurance Group Limited.
