Replacement cards
If you’ve been sent a replacement card due to your other card expiring, getting damaged, lost or stolen, and you had a PIN loaded on that card, then your existing PIN will be transferred to your replacement card.
Activate your card in store
Use your card in any store by inserting your new card into the EFTPOS machine and entering your current PIN. You’ll now be able to use your card for all types of transactions.
New cards
If your card is brand new and you didn't set a PIN at the time you ordered your card, then it won’t come with a PIN. You can set a PIN through the mobile app or internet banking.
Activate your credit card without adding a PIN
You can activate your Kiwibank Credit Card without adding a PIN within internet banking.
- Log in to internet banking.
- Click on your card.
- Select ‘Additional Options and Details’.
- Next to ‘Card Status’ select ‘Activate’.
You'll be able to use your credit card for making online purchases and you can still use your card in-store without a PIN - you'll just have to insert your card into the EFTPOS machine, then press 'credit' and 'ok'. You may be asked to sign a receipt. Once you've made a purchase in-store, you'll be able to make contactless payments.
You won't be able to use your card in an ATM without a PIN.
If you don't have the mobile app or internet banking, please call us or visit your nearest Kiwibank with valid photo ID.
Update your regular payments and card details
If your replacement card has new card details i.e. the numbers on the front of your card, expiry date and security code on the back, you’ll need to update any regular payments from your card and anywhere you’ve saved your card details to make it easier to pay for things. To help with this, look through recent credit card statements and transactions. You might also want to check out the following common examples.
