    Interviews

    • If we proceed with your application, the second stage of the journey is some form of interview(s). This is a two-way conversation and a chance for us to get to know each other.
    • Interviews can be over the phone, over video (Microsoft Teams) or in person.
    • Your Recruitment Business Partner will give you all the information you need so you know what type of interview you're having and how to prepare.
    • We usually use behavioural based questions in our interviews and we will explain how to prepare for these when we set up your interview.
    • Sometimes we have virtual assessment centres, psychometric testing, technical testing and role plays as part of the recruitment journey. Your Recruitment Business Partner will give you all the information you need about these when these are set up.

    Helpful tips

When preparing and thinking about your interview(s) we recommend you:

    • Be familiar with the position description for the role you've applied for.
    • Be prepared to make a great impression.
    • Be on time and make sure you've responded to the invitation.
    • Be prepared with the technology if appropriate – dial into the Microsoft Teams meeting 10 minutes before your interview.
    • Be prepared with how to conduct yourself in the interview – practice potential questions and answers.
    • Be positive and friendly, and be ready to have some fun.
    • Be ready with your own questions.

    • We'll also ask for your permission to undertake a Ministry of Justice criminal record check and a credit check.
    • Other background checks may be requested for some roles.

    Helpful tip

We encourage you to let your referees know that they'll be contacted about giving a reference before you provide their details. It’s also helpful to let them know some information about the job you're applying for.
